Q. Good question Alexander Tumibay , "What made the journey of Israelites LONGER?" (29/8/19) A. Exodus 15:24‘And the people complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” 25 So he cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet.’ How very sad is this…? God had just done the most incredible miracles in Egypt, including parting the Red Sea, but they lost faith at the first hurdle… Exodus 16:3' “If only the LORD had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned. “There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.” ’Exodus 32:9‘And the LORD said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and indeed it is a stiff-necked people!” ’Numbers 12Miriam and Aaron Oppose Moses‘Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. 2 “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the Lord heard this. 3 (Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.) 4 At once the Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, “Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them went out. 5 Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward, 6 he said, “Listen to my words:” ’The Lord proceeded to give Aaron and Miriam a very good telling off and afflicted her with leprosy… Please read this riveting story for yourself. So the answer to your question is, disobedience and murmuring against God and His appointed leader. The actual journey would have only taken 11 days … But instead, we know it took 40 years! Furthermore, because of their complaining, that generation didn’t even make it to the Promised Land, even though by God’s loving providence their clothes and sandals never wore out during the entire journey. So my friends, let’s think hard before we utter complaints, because God had a bellyful of Lucifer trading his lies and murmuring against Him in the heavenly courts.Complaining comes so naturally we may not even be aware of doing it… So, let’s ask God to make us aware each time we grumble… Take for instance the weather… To hot, too cold, too dry, too much rain… Right? Hundreds of complaints tumble from our lips each and every day that makes God sad... Let's face it, we are a grudging and ungrateful nation of complainers…and our constant whining WILL cause us to lose our salvation. So let’s turn our complaints into praising God for our many blessings…we will be greatly blessed and the holy angels will take delight in spending time in our company.Matthew 10:29-31 sweet 16 court wears " Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”Many of us have great burdens and trials — but believe it or not, praising God WILL lighten our burden as He guides us though the fiery furnace. If His eye is on the sparrow, how much more His precious children? Let’s choose to walk on the sunny side and away from all the gloom and doom.Psalm 66:3"Say to God,How awesome are Your works!"So let us cry out to God as Psalm 141:3 bids us…“Set a guard over my mouth, Lord;keep watch over the door of my lips.” Selah … May God bless you all ?
